A 24-Hour Getaway in Ojai by Modern Muze

Modern_Muze_Getaway
Sometimes all it takes is a 24-hour getaway to disrupt the mindset, to have some wild adventures, to eat delicious and nourishing food, and to completely reset the mind and body. Ojai, known as the the "Valley of the Moon", is one of the rare and special places that offers it all. Ojai has nature, beauty, delicious food and wine, great places to stay, kind locals, well-designed shops, spa options, and an essence that almost reminds you of childhood, where everything seems to slow down, but with a genuine spike of curiosity and play around every corner.

This past weekend, Zulay Henao, her French Bulldog "Chloe", and I, set off on a Modern Muze adventure to Ojai with the intention to mix it up, have some laughs and adventure, and nourish our minds and bodies "glamping" style.

Here are our favorite finds and what not to miss in Ojai...

Zulay_Henao_Ojai_Modern_MuzeOjai is a health-loving foodie's paradise. Surrounded by rows of citrus groves, fields of lavender, olive oil trees and farms, Ojai has the essence of natural and delicious food. Our first stop? The Farmer and The Cook (as seen in the photograph). The Farmer and the Cook is one of those rare bliss points of a restaurant, where healthy, flavor, and completely satisfying meet. They feature beautiful smoothies, great coffee, and filling dishes, don't miss our favorite - the Chard Enchiladas.

A few more of our favorite stops and restaurants in Ojai: Make sure to stop by Ojai Rotie for a great local and foreign wine menu, yummy bites, and welcoming locals (if you are a rotisserie chicken fan, you will love this spot)! Julie_and_Zulay_OjaiThis picture is just a small representation of  how you will feel after experiencing the incredible Kuyam Treatment at the Ojai Valley Inn. Rejuvenated, refreshed, glowing, peaceful, are just a few of the words that we use to describe it. "Kuyam", means a place to gather, and the experience is based on an ancient tradition held by the Chumash. The Ojai Valley Inn is the only location in the country that offers this service and it is really special to go with a friend, a lover, or a group. Within the treatment, you sit in a beautifully tiled room listening to a guided meditation while instructed to put three different types of healing clay on your body. Herbs like lemongrass and essential oils fill the room while it heats, and you decompress as the nutrients from the clay are absorbed. Afterward, enjoy a private patio and access to the stunning Ojai Valley Inn Spa and pools for the day.
