MODERN MUZE X RACHEL NICKS

This week at Modern Muze, we were  thrilled to interview fitness Instructor, Juilliard trained actress, Doula, and Mother,

Rachel Nicks. Rachel  radiates positive energy, confidence, and love!  When asked what motivates her to empower other women, she replied, “Confidence is sexy.  My passion is making people feel good, which gives them the motivation to put in the work to look good!”  Rachel has a refreshing approach to how we embody health and says that, “fitness must be a holistic experience of strengthening the mind, the body, and the spirit. True health is when this trifecta of personal power is in balance.” We couldn’t agree more!

Enjoy getting to know more about Rachel in our Modern Muze interview below!

MODERN MUZE
Where are you and your family from?
RACHEL
I was born and raised in Oakland, CA.  My husband is from Birmingham, AL.  We live in NYC but have spent the pandemic in California since March and returning to NYC in January.

MODERN MUZE
What do you love about being a woman?
RACHEL
I have multiple powers.  I can be strong, sensual, or vulnerable. I can create, build, and give life.

MODERN MUZE
How do you embrace your vulnerabilities?
RACHEL
I do just that. I embrace them. I am strong and extremely sensitive. My vulnerability allows me to constantly grow and evolve. I occasionally have to remind myself that vulnerability is not weak. It actually takes immense strength and confidence to be vulnerable. Life is much more enjoyable and fulfilling if you embrace it!

MODERN MUZE
What is your most powerful and authentic quality?
RACHEL
My ability to tell it like it is, and my deep passion for helping others. MODERN MUZE
What do you feel is your purpose in your work?
RACHEL
My purpose is to educate and empower others through all that I do.  My goal is to create positive change in my community through my work as an actor, trainer, and birth worker.

MODERN MUZE
What qualities do you admire most in other women?
RACHEL
Creativity, drive, and beauty.

MODERN MUZE
What advice would you give your younger self?
RACHEL
Don’t worry about always getting it right. Don’t worry about what others think.  I was blessed at a young age to give up the strive for perfection and everyone’s approval. When I was at Juilliard I remember accepting that everyone will not like me and I made peace with that. I also remember in my early twenties after a very painful breakup realizing nothing is perfect, and gave up trying. I always told myself, “I will do my best and stay TRUE to myself.”  When I was younger, I was a bit too amendable to others’ needs and desires, and now, I stand firm in my values and boundaries.  I am a giver, and will always be, but I am also worthy to receive.  Many young women get really good at giving, but make sure the people you give to are worthy!
