Hunter Schafer just confirmed she had a relationship with Spanish singer Rosalía in 2019.
The 25-year-old “Euphoria” actress shared the details of her five-month romance with the Motomami, spanning the fall and winter of 2019, in an interview with GQ. After telling the reporter she checked with Rosalía before revealing the details, she stated she was “happy to confirm” dating the pop star.
Although their relationship was short-lived, Schafer says they are still friends. They were spotted shopping for furniture in Los Angeles recently.
“I have really beautiful friendships with people that I was once romantically involved with,” she told the publication. Adding that Rosalía is “family no matter what.”
Schafer wanted to end speculation over her relationship with Rosalía
During her interview with GQ, Schafer referenced the speculation that has been circling about her and the “Con Altura” singer for years.
“It’s been so much speculation for so long,” she said. “Part of us just wants to get it over with, and then another part is like, ‘It’s none of anybody’s f**ing business!’”
Adding, “It’s something I’m happy to share. And I think she feels that way too.”
For years, fan theories have circled social media regarding their romance. Among them was one pointing to Rosalía’s song “Tuya,” where fans speculated the person Rosalía was referring to was, in fact, the actress.
However, Rosalía never confirmed this. Instead, she told the ¡Anda Ya! television show that “’Tuya’ is inspired by traditional music, but there is a mixture of several layers that remind one. It was perfect to be able to get there.”
Emphasizing that “Everyone makes their own story… I love it. As a writer, I like when others create their versions. I will never break the magic of ‘this is fiction, and this is personal.’”
Throughout the years, Rosalía and Schafer have been spotted together several times
Although their relationship ended in 2019, the artists haven’t stopped hanging out. In December 2019, Rosalía thanked Schafer during her acceptance speech for her Billboard Rising Star Award.
“Also, thanks to my friend Hunter. Thank you for coming tonight to join me. I love you so much.” This was also right around the time the Barcelona native met her ex-fiancé, Rauw Alejandro.
