Gather Your Queridas! The Juan Gabriel Barbie is Here

In recent years, Barbie has gone beyond a doll to become an icon of pop culture. In fact, many Latinos have been commemorated as the dolls. Now, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Mattel is honoring Juan Gabriel.

Yes, El Divo de Juarez’s doll celebrates the singer’s career. “Our latest doll in the Barbie Signature Music Series celebrates the Mexican artist Juan Gabriel,” Mattel writes on their website.

Inspired by his Mariachi hits and extensive repertoire, the doll goes beyond a collectible to inspire audiences to remember this Mexican icon.

The Juan Gabriel Barbie sports an outfit inspired by this iconic 1990 performance

The six-time Grammy nominee was infamous for many tracks that still grace our Saturday playlists, such as “Abrázame Muy Fuerte,” “No Tengo Dinero,” “Amor Eterno,” and “Querida,” and his impeccable sense of style.

Of course, Barbie had to embrace these nods to Mexican culture and Juanga’s love for them. That’s why she’s wearing a glittering bolero jacket inspired by his 1990 performance at Mexico City’s Palacio de Bellas Artes, a full-bodied Mariachi pant suit, golden strappy sandals, and gold accessories. Her hair is picked up in a beautiful high ponytail and a curl is in front of her face. Muze approved for sure.

On Instagram, many shared their love for the new doll and her style.

“Im so in love! Thank you for representation of such a Mexican icon! I’ve already had purchased mine and can’t wait to have her next to my Maria Felix 🇲🇽❤️,” one user wrote.

Juan Gabriel joins several other Latino stars honored with their own Barbie

America Ferrera, Gloria Estefan, Shakira, JLo, and Frida Kahlo are among other Barbie honorees.

In 2023, Mattel released Cruz’s Barbie in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. The Cuban salsa queen became part of Barbie’s “Inspiring Women Series” which Mattel claimed in a statement “pays tribute to incredible heroines of their time; courageous women who took risks, changed rules, and paved the way for generations of girls to dream bigger than ever before.

The Juan Gabriel Barbie is now available at Target, Walmart, and Mattel.com!
