June was packed with so much fun family activity! We kicked off the month with Kennedy‘s third birthday party.
This year, we went with a Frozen theme party since she’s obsessed with Anna, Elsa, and the snowman Olaf. We opted for a park picnic celebration instead of having it at home because Kennedy invited practically the entire school. It was a beautiful day filled with princess fun. Yes, even Queen Elsa showed up! She crowned Kennedy, sang all the songs, and face-painted all the kids. The kids enjoyed a themed sundae bar complete with all their favorite toppings.
We curated every detail of the party using multicultural, women-owned businesses, from the sundae bar to the balloon design, cake, and goodie bags. It truly makes me happy to use every opportunity to highlight amazing women who are doing incredible things and thriving. All in all, the birthday was a hit. My little girl danced, played, and felt so loved.
Father’s Day was also filled with surprises and loving celebration
This year, Father’s Day was one for the books. My dad was in town from Colombia, so it was great to celebrate Father’s Day with him.
The weather finally turned beautiful, so Malibu was calling. We decided on a good old-fashioned, ocean-side al fresco lunch and a beach day. Lunch was divine. I highly recommend Gladstone’s Restaurant if you’re ever in LA and need a fun beachside meal. The food is always fresh, and you can’t beat the ocean breeze!
After lunch, we headed down to the beach. I loved watching Kevin and Kennedy play in the sand and dip their toes in the ocean water. This is truly my happy place. I’ve always been happiest near a body of water; that day was no exception. Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing dads out there!
We also celebrated my mom’s birthday with our traditional girls’ trip
June is also one of the most special times of the year because it is my mother‘s birthday. We started a yearly tradition almost a decade ago where we travel somewhere amazing together to celebrate. For the last few years, Kennedy has joined in on the festivities too!
While last year brought us to Sedona, Arizona, this year we took it internationally: Buenos Aires, Argentina. I LOVED Buenos Aires. The city is full of life, culture, great food, and soccer pride. I have to say the trip was a bit longer than I would’ve liked — traveling with a toddler is a challenge no matter how prepared you think you are.
Even still, once there, we explored. We found a Michelin-starred restaurant called Fervor, which we loved. To celebrate, we drank fantastic wine and met amazingly friendly people. Buenos Aires is a beautiful walking city. We loved walking along the river at Puerto Madero, eating authentic Japanese food in the JardÃn Japonés, and really indulging in all the character and charm old cities offer. Additionally, we immersed ourselves in Tango culture and even went to a show at El Viejo Almacén.
Finally, we visited perhaps the most beautiful cemetery I’ve ever seen, La Recoleta. Right in the heart of the city, it’s the resting place of Argentina’s wealthiest and most notable figures, including Eva Perón. The day was overcast and rainy, which added to the magic and charm of the Baroque-style grounds. It felt fascinating, both haunted and yet peaceful.
All in all, June was full of so much magic, and yes, even another bout of COVID. But that’s life —a beautiful, messy masterpiece!
