Latinas are known for their hustle. That’s why we’re celebrating Latina-owned businesses this Hispanic Heritage Month.
From beauty to food, Latinas are changing the United States economy in every sector. Here are five of our favorite businesses to support.
Rare Beauty
Selena Gomez isn’t just wowing us with her music and acting; she’s also transforming the beauty industry with her brand Rare Beauty. This vegan and cruelty-free makeup line focuses on self-expression and self-acceptance, a message we all need to hear!
Little Words Project
We all need some affirmations to keep us going and Adriana Carrig knew just the way to keep us empowered. That’s why she created Little Words Project as a way of creating wearable remindes of how chignonas we really are.Â
Siete Foods
Veronica Garza, co-founder and president of Siete Foods, was inspired to create a healthier way to enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine after her personal experience with multiple autoimmune conditions. With her family of seven, she delved into the connection between food and health. This led to the creation of Siete Foods. This Mexican-American family from South Texas offers a range of grain-free Mexican staples, including flour tortillas, cookies, tortilla chips, cooking sauces, seasonings, and beans. Their mission is to provide delicious and nutritious options that cater to those with dietary restrictions while preserving the rich heritage of Mexican cuisine.
DayBird
Daybird CEO Whitney McElwain founded the brand to challenge the beauty industry’s emphasis on covering up skin. Frustrated by the lack of representation for women of color, Daybird focuses on creating inclusive products that celebrate natural beauty. Its tinted skincare combines a serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen into one 4-in-1 multitasker.
Reina Rebelde
Regina Merson’s passion for makeup began with watching her mom and the telenovela “Rosa Salvaje.” Inspired by her Mexican heritage and her experiences living in the U.S., she founded Reina Rebelde. The makeup brand offering bold, diverse, and unpredictable shades and themes. Reina Rebelde’s products, including contour kits, eyeshadow palettes, bold lipsticks, and liquid eyeliners, reflect Merson’s fierce personality and celebrate Mexican beauty.
