Matthew McConaughey Calls Jennifer Lopez a ‘Five-Threat’ for This Career Highlight

Back in 2001, Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey stole our hearts with The Wedding Planner. The romantic comedy brought cheekiness, fun, and even some fantasy to the big screen. While it seemed like all fun and games, the Texan actor is sharing some insights about the film, particularly his thoughts on JLo.

“Look, I don’t know what a five-threat is, but it’s more than a four-threat, a quad-threat…Whatever a five-threat is is what she is,” McConaughey, told PEOPLE as part of the magazine’s 50th anniversary special edition.

Adding that Lopez “nailed it” in every shot for the box office hit, which grossed $100 million worldwide.

“I’ve never seen someone be able to choreograph something so cleanly and clearly and actually hit the coordination of a scene,” he said.

Adding, “It would be a two-minute scene. Take one’s two minutes…two is 2:01… three is 1:59. Take four, it’s 2:01. She had it down.”

McConaughey praised Jennifer Lopez’s work ethic

Throughout the interview, the Oscar winner continued praising Lopez for her hard work and dedication throughout the film.

“That woman’s a worker and knows what she wants to do and she does what she needs to do to pull [it] off,” he told the publication. “I really appreciate that.”

However, this isn’t the first time he celebrates Lopez. In 2021, they reunited on Instagram LIVE to celebrate the iconic romantic comedy’s 20th anniversary.

“You prepare so well for everything you do. I love your intentionality, I love how deliberate you are. You would have it down,” he said during the LIVE.

To which JLo commented on their incredible chemistry on-screen.

“We had such a nice rapport and chemistry,” Lopez told the Greenlights author. “We were somewhat at the beginning of our careers at that time. It was exciting to be working on any movie. I still feel that way. It was a magical time.”
